Cowes Regatta Display to be Cancelled?

Despite announcements that the display to mark the end of the Cowes Regatta was unlikely to take place, business leaders in Cowes remained positive that it would go ahead. The firework display has been the main event of Cowes' final week for over 150 years.

Fears that it would have to be cancelled were caused by an announcement that the organisers were unable to shoulder the full £50,000 cost, offering to provide only a contribution of £5,000 towards the event.

Optimism has resulted from the town's business leaders' approach to companies in Cowes to provide financial assistance.

Other firework events in Cowes (listed in the events diary on this website) are unaffected - being organised by a separate organisation.
