News25 February 2009 Entries Being Accepted Now For British Firework Championships 2009After much discussion both with venues and display companies, The Event Services Association (TESA) has taken a decision to cancel the heats for this event this year and to return to running a draw for the main competition in Plymouth (August 11th and 12th). Kevin Minton of TESA told Fireworks: 'While we had hoped to run a limited number of heats, and were trying to increase budgets for this, the current economic climate has made this impossible, not least because of the huge cuts that local authorities are having to make to their budgets. Furthermore, some companies have expressed their concerns to us about having to handle a heat as well as the final. 'We are, however, intending to re-instate the heats for 2010 and we are already in discussion with some venues over this.' Companies wishing to take part in the British Firework Championships this year should study the Competition Rules & Guidance Notes, a document which includes an entry form. They are asked to complete the entry form and return it to TESA by 6th March, 2009. As before, all those entries TESA receives will be put in a ‘hat’ and the entries selected by draw.
