NewsJUBILEE BEAT INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONOctober 2007 Jubilee Fireworks, representing the UK, have won the World Firework Championships in Blackpool defeating the best of international competition - from Portugal's Pirotechnia Minhota, DW Fireworks from Canada, and Design Fireworks of Austria. More than a quarter of a million spectators on Blackpool's promenade witnessed the four heats of the event, held throughout this month. Voting has been by judging panel - and members of the public, who texted their votes. The Mayor of Blackpool, Councillor Robert Wynne, said: "The UK's entry was a clear favourite with the crowds, and I am pleased to announce that Jubilee Fireworks take home the trophy this year." Chris Pearce of the winning Jubilee company said: "We were delighted to have the opportunity to stage a display at the Blackpool Competition; the result proves that British Fireworks Companies can compete effectively in the international arena." Jubilee have had a good month, winning the Pembrokeshire Waterway annual Champion of Champions event (28-29 September). As event co-ordinators, Kimbolton Fireworks were not competing for the title, but performed a display on Friday 28 September which proved very popular.
